There are a number of section properties that are automatically calculated with Alusix.
From the main dimensions of the section to the moments of inertia all with just a click of a button.
Although Alusix is focused on Aluminium profiles section properties, someone can easily modify the "Density" value so that the correct weight per meter is calculated.
All other data that are calculated are irrelevant of the material.
Just "click" inside the region of the drawing you want to calculate or select the "polylines" that make up your drawing.
A table with the properties of the section is created and you can place it anywhere you like.
EN14024 describes the correct way to calculate thermally broken aluminium profile section Moment of Inertia.
Alusix will calculate the "Loose moment of inertia" , the "Rigid moment of inertia" and the "Effective moment of inertia".
"Effective moment of inertia" is the one to be used in calculations and is very crucial to have the correct value otherwise you risk the construction to fail.
Alusix calculates the "Effective moment of inertia" to be 75% of the "Rigid moment of inertia". This is a safe calculation if you don't know the "elasticity constant C" for the polyamides

Alusix is an add on to Autocad©. You must have Autocad© installed in order for Alusix to work.
Alusix works in all Autocad© versions. Just download the installer and "run as administrator" in order to install correctly.
After you install Alusix just type "Alusix" in the command line of Autocad© and you are ready to calculate any profile section properties .
